The next new moon occurs on Thursday, 16^th July, 2015, at 02:24 BST. On this day it cannot be seen with the unaided eye in any part of the world. On Friday, 17^th July, 2015, it can be seen with the unaided eye in the whole world except Europe and North Asia. On Saturday, 18^th July, 2015, it can also easily be seen with the unaided eye in Europe and North Asia.

For those who remain on the Taqleed of Marhum Agha Khoei (May Allah elevate his status), 1^st Shawwal is on Saturday 18 July 2015.

We have received notification from the office of Ayatullah Syed Ali Sistani (May Allah protect him) in Najaf, confirming that “according to the available data, the crescent is not expected to be seen before or after Maghrib on Friday in Britain and most of the European nations. Accordingly, Sunday will be Eid for them.” Therefore, 1^st Shawwal 1436 for the muqalideen of Syed Ali Sistani in the UK will be on Sunday 19 July 2015.
