Hajj Message on behalf of the EC

In: Latest News

Salaamun Alaykum,

One of the pillars of our religion is performing pilgrimage and visiting the House of the Almighty and the resting place of His Chosen Messenger (pbuh).

Millions of people from all corners of the globe embark on this spiritual quest to perform their obligations. For most, this is once in a lifetime opportunity to visit the place from which our religion was born. Yet, for many, this may not be the first time. Many members of our centre too have been blessed with the opportunity to go to Hajj this year.

On behalf of the Executive Committee of The KSIMC of London, I would like to wish every pilgrim, male and female, a safe journey. May the Almighty accept all your Amaals during this journey. We pray for all pilgrims to successfully perform their obligations and return back home safe and sound.

And lastly, we request all those going to these sacred places to remember us all in their prayers especially that we all get a chance to go, even if we have already completed our Waajibaat.

With Salaams and Duas,

Mustafa Mohamed (Jaffer)
President

The letter inspired an ill-fated revolution against the tyrannical rule of the king and was written by Hussain son of Ali, who took a stand against social injustices, discrimination and intolerance when nobody else dared to. His letter invited people of all backgrounds to join him in bringing about harmony in the empire. Grenfell Tower Fire Update

In: Latest News

26 June 2017

News of the fire which engulfed Grenfell Tower on 14 June broke our hearts.Parents and their children were separated.Whole families were lost.Even those who may be deemed lucky enough to have escaped unharmed must still build their lives anew.

The entire community’s response was quite astonishing. Within hours, an initiative was formed. With just a few WhatsApp messages, many hundreds of kilos of products – of food supplies, clothes, bedding and toiletries – were brought to the centre. Over £3,500 was raised for the cause.

So overwhelming was the response that some generous donors had to be turned away and excess goods handed to other local charities.

The Executive Committee wishes to place on record its thanks to the generous donors who went out of their way to help those in need. The EC also wishes to recognise the many volunteers who gave up precious time to make their way to the site of the disaster to help.

Fittingly, the community’s efforts were recognised in several news outlets, including the Metro, the Evening Standard and the Guardian. See some press cuttings below:

Though the Grenfell Tower Fire appeal has now come to an end, we pray this spirit of selfless giving, compassion and charitable endeavour continues to thrive in the community.

Statement from The KSIMC of London on last week’s attacks in London

Statement from The KSIMC of London on last week’s attacks in London

Following the attacks in London last Saturday, Mustafa Mohammed (Jaffer), President of The KSIMC of London, issued the following statement:

I am shocked by the news of violence in London Bridge and Borough Market.  My thoughts and prayers are with all the victims and their families.

My thoughts, too, are with those who have been injured, who we hope will make the quickest of recoveries.

I pay tribute to the heroism of the emergency services who took such swift action to intervene, putting their lives at risk for the sake of others.

In these days of Ramadhan, we as Muslims learn and reinforce Islamic teachings of love for our neighbours and compassion for all.  It is indeed unfortunate that some misguided individuals enact such abhorrent acts purportedly in the name of Islam. Whilst they and others seek to divide our society, we are proud to be British Muslims who espouse these values of kindness and openheartedness which will undoubtedly endure and triumph.

Perpetrators of violence will never emerge victorious and I condemn all such actions.  Britain and London must continue to celebrate diversity, protect those in harm’s way and respond to hate with unity and togetherness.”
