In: General, Not on home page

In the name of Allah, Most Kind, Ever Merciful

Inna lillah wa inna ilayhi rajiun

Imam al-Sadiq (a) has said: ‘When a believing jurist dies, a void is left in Islam that can never be filled again [except by equal or better jurists].’ (Al-Kafi)

It is with utmost sadness and profound grief that the Shia world received news of the demise of the great mystic and scholar, Grand Ayatullah Hasanzadeh Amoli, in Iran on the 25th of September 2021, aged 92.

On this most grievous loss, The KSIMC of London humbly extends condolences to Imam al-Mahdi (aj) on the loss of one of his general representatives, to the hawza ilmiyyah and ulama, to the grieving family, and to the entire Shia ummah.

Ayatullah Amoli, also known as Allama Hasanzadeh was a Mujtahid, mystic, philosopher theologian, astronomer and a teacher of other Islamic seminary disciplines.

Allama Hasanzadeh was born in a village around ‘Larijan’ of Amol in early 1929, and formally commenced his studies in the Islamic seminary in 1944. Allama studied under many teachers including Allama Sha’rani, Sayyid Muhammad Hasan Ilahi, and Allama Tabataba’i (author of Tafsir Al-Mizan).

Allama Hasanzadeh was an active teacher in the Hawza of Qum, and wrote many works in a variety of fields such as jurisprudence, philosophy, ethics, mysticism, religious wisdom, theology, mathematics, astronomy, Arabic and Persian literature and natural sciences. However, most of his works are centred around the Qur’an, philosophy, and mysticism.

Some of these include:

  • Durus ma’rifat al-nafs
  • Ilahi naame
  • Risala-i Nahj al-wilaya

Mu’mineen are requested to remember Grand Ayatullah Allama Hasanzadeh Amoli with a Surat al-Fatihah, and for the ummah to be able to bear this loss with steadfastness
